What Is All-On-4 Treatment?

The term All-on-4 comes from all of a patient’s teeth being supported by four titanium dental implants. The four implants support an unmovable anchor for the prosthesis with a full set of teeth on the lower and/or upper jaw. This procedure is performed on edentulous patients or people with badly damaged, broken, or compromised teeth.

Why would All on 4 Implants be needed?

If your dentures are poorly fitting and slipping while eating or engaging in a conversation, then All on 4 is a good option for you. You don’t have to take them out at night or use denture adhesive. All -on-4 implants are secure, and the closest to a natural teeth feeling. You can bite into an apple without worrying about dentures falling or dislodging. All-on-4 implants restore beautiful customized aesthetics with a confident smile.

I highly recommend family dental in Biddeford, me. I’ve always been very nervous about going to get dental work done. Here it’s been a pleasant and pain free experience.

What makes you a good candidate for All-on-4 implants?

You may be a good candidate for the All-on-4 procedure if:

  • You are missing all or most of your teeth.
  • You don’t have any major oral or overall health problems that would hinder your ability to heal after surgery.
  • You have adequate jaw bone to support dental implants.
  • You are interested in a streamlined economical natural feeling teeth.

What happens during the All-on-4 Implants procedure?

At the initial consult we will go over your health history and perform a thorough examination with the necessary diagnostics to determine if you are a candidate for the All-on-4 protocol. We perform diagnostics such as photos, intraoral digital scan, and 3D X-ray using cone beam computerized tomography to evaluate the bone and create a 3D computer-generated model.Dr.Seth will ask you questions related to your dental concerns, goals, and expectations. She will also obtain primary impressions to evaluate and fabricate a full set of teeth for the surgical day.

On the day of the surgery Dr Seth and her team along with the surgeon and lab team are present at the time of the surgery. Dr. Seth will attach teeth to the newly placed dental implants. These fixed teeth will stay in place and the patient is not able to remove them, unlike a traditional denture. These teeth stay in place as the adjacent tissue is healing. Healing tissue will shrink and will cause a less-than-ideal fit of the fixed teeth. The shrinkage may continue for up to 3 to 5 months.

It takes 3 to 5 months for the dental implants to integrate with your bone. In 3 to 5 months, final impressions will be made and a definitive set of long-term teeth will be fabricated. These teeth will have even better strength for long-term functions.
