What Are Exams and Cleanings?
A cleaning is performed by one of our qualified hygienists every 3-6 months
depending on a patient’s needs. Our hygienist performs a dental cleaning by removing calculus, tartar, and stains from your teeth and checking the overall health of the gums. After your cleaning Dr Mallipeddi will perform an exam to help detect any problems like cavities, loose restorations, cancer, and other oral complications.

Why Are Exams and Cleanings Necessary?
It is important to be proactive about your dental health, and the best way to
accomplish this is by preventing and detecting issues early on. Regular dental exams and professional cleanings are integral parts of good oral health. By maintaining regular visits we can help maintain the health of your teeth and gums and address any issues as they may arise.

I highly recommend family dental in Biddeford, me. I’ve always been very nervous about going to get dental work done. Here it’s been a pleasant and pain free experience.

What Makes You A Good Candidate From Exams And Cleanings?
Everyone is a good candidate to come in for exams and cleanings. In fact, children should go to the dentist as soon as their first tooth comes through the gums. But encouraging your children to practice good oral hygiene and coming to regular checkups, your child can develop the tools for excellent lifelong oral hygiene. Even patients who wear full dentures should come into the office for routine dental examinations. Even if it has been awhile since you have seen a dentist, it is never too late to start. Our mission is to provide you with the care that you need in a warm and family-friendly environment.

What can you expect with routine Dental Exams & Cleanings?
First, you will receive x-rays, which help with diagnosing any underlying problems you may have. Next, you will receive a full dental cleaning performed by a hygienist. The hygienist will get rid of any excess plaque and tartar that have accumulated on your teeth that normal brushing and flossing cannot reach. Next, your teeth will be cleaned and polished to give you a brighter smile. After the cleaning is finished, our doctors will come and perform a comprehensive examination. This exam will check for signs of decay, loose fillings, crowns, as well as a variety of other problems. Additionally, we provide oral cancer screening exams. We will also take a series of intraoral pictures. Then, we will take a digital impression of your mouth looking for wear patterns over time to monitor any changes.
It is important to always make time for your dental care twice a year. If you think you need a dental exam and cleaning, call our office today so that we can help schedule an appointment to better assist you.
